Making Patients Feel Safe, Secure and Comfortable
Staying overnight at a hospital can make many patients anxious. Visits by the nurse or doctor, the beeps of the medical equipment, the bland hospital environment, not to mention sleeping in an unfamiliar bed can all be unnerving to patients in need of recovery.
One such program, Make a Healing Home, aims to help hospitals enhance the patient experience by providing a sense of safety, security and comfort. The premise of Make a Healing Home is simple: When patients feel cared for, they’re happier and heal faster. Studies show that by furnishing their rooms with branded solutions they know and trust, patients are more likely to feel cared for, which in turn improves their recovery time and emotional well-being.
For hospital administrators, the benefits of patient-centric care extend to all aspects of a hospital. Operational Efficiency – Many patients worry about healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) –and rightly so. HAIs are one of the top-10 leading causes of death in the U.S. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention cites clean hands as one of the most important factors in preventing the spread of dangerous germs and antibiotic resistance.
