The board of judges were surprised and delighted at the record number of entries received from all over the British Isles, from large and small contractors, regular entrants and newcomers and some previous finalists going for sector Awards. Over 45% more entries were received than last year and all were of a very high standard. One of this year’s new categories bringing extremely encouraging results was the Shopping Mall category, which for the first time was separated from the Retail Sector Award. It was such a popular sector that it was the second most heavily entered category! Not a bad result for a newcomer. Let’s make it No 1 for entries next time!! The judges and the general public will be pleased to see that Healthcare had the most entries. There have been many shocking media health reports about hospitals. It is time that the many well cleaned and hygiene conscious healthcare premises receive their due publicity. Well done to the NHS and private healthcare sectors alike – a brilliant effort. The Best Cleaned Premises by an In-House Cleaning Team in the Healthcare sector brought a high number of entries too. This once again endorses the importance that our healthcare professionals place on cleaning and hygiene. Well done! The Offices sectors have been highly contended for many years. Since it was split into two - Offices Above 15,000 sq. ft and Offices Below 15,000 sq. ft, both categories have blossomed and they now rank the third and fourth most popular sectors. Thank you everyone who took the trouble to submit an entry for those that we have mentioned and the other categories. Thanks too to every entrant for making this a record-breaking year for entries. It is now time for the judges to complete the difficult and time-consuming task of site visits to finalists’ premises. If you entered and did not reach the finalist stage, please don’t get depressed, the standards are extremely high and the difference between being a finalist and missing out, is often only one point! There is no reason why you cannot enter again next year. A full list of finalists is on this page, but which ones will take away the sector Awards from London’s Savoy on November 1st will not be known until around 2.30pm on the day! If you are a finalist you should put that date in your diary and start thinking about who you want to invite to your table – tickets can be ordered by email: info@goldenserviceawards.com. With the high number of entries they will be in heavy demand so be sure to book early! In the meantime, why not start thinking about your entry for 2003? Perhaps you could enter an additional category this time? To see this year’s Finalists click here:
